Our Paradise in Misiones

100 Hectares of Prime Rainforest in the land of jungle and rivers.

conservation land in Misiones, Argentina

We bought this 100 hectare prime rainforest in 2022 in Misiones, near San Pedro, after we had a large donation. It is named La Coral. We have had several surveys done of the land, in particular regarding the mature trees and plants, but also of the wildlife. There are several vulnerable and endangered birds and mammals including the iconic Pipile yacutinga, Black-fronted Piping Guan (EN), Tapirus terrestris, Lowland Tapir (VU), Mamaza nana, Pygmy Brocket (VU). Endangered trees include Cedrela fissilis, Argentine Cedar and Balfourodendron riedelianum,  Guatambu Blanco.

We are seeking a grant to help us to research the flora and fauna, fix the fences to keep out hunters, and to create a path for a 4×4 so we can access the stream.

Our neighbours own 200 ha and 100 Ha respectively of similar conservation land and they have both built small cabins next to the stream. We would like to start with a birding platform in order to carry out birdwatching.

Above are more photos of La Coral which at its highest point sits at around 500m asl, and is hilly. A stream, El Arroyo Timbo, sits at the southern border of the property.

Below are photos of some of the  wildlife that we have encountered in this area, some of which are threatened.
